Water Supply Infrastructure Planning for a Development Site in Dragalevtsi, Sofia

This project involved the planning and design of the water supply infrastructure for three newly developed building plots in the Dragalevtsi district of Sofia.

Rather than limiting the scope to the connection of the new properties to the existing water supply network, a comprehensive engineering and hydraulic assessment of the entire system was carried out. The study included a review of the existing infrastructure, previously approved design documentation, the area’s planned urban development, and the long-term capacity of the network.

Hydraulic modelling was used to evaluate the performance of the water supply system under different operating conditions and future development scenarios. The analysis assessed pipeline capacity, operating pressures, and the improvements required to ensure a reliable water supply for both the new development and the surrounding area.

The project also included the development of a long-term water supply strategy, optimisation of pressure zones, design of a new looped water distribution network, and preparation of an alternative design solution in accordance with the requirements of the local water utility.

The final solution provides a reliable, resilient and future-ready water supply system capable of supporting the planned urban development.
